WEIGHT CERTIFICATIONS

WRESTLING WEIGHT ASSESSMENT
EXAMS
WHY: All wrestlers must go through weight certification to be eligible for season competitions. The procedure will determine the lowest possible weight a wrestler may wrestle. However, a wrestler may wrestle at which ever weight he chooses as long as it is allowed by the weight management plan. Each wrestler will receive a weight management plan after evaluation. The goal of this plan is to promote healthy weight loss, prevent unhealthy weight loss, and assist each athlete in reaching their optimal performance level. 

WHEN: Oct. 24th, Nov. 7th, & Nov. 21st (Make-up dates)

  • Please call Diane King at 404-354-0008 to let her know you are coming. A wrestler may not compete until they have been through the weight certification procedure.
  • The time frame for the weight certification is from 8:30am until 11:00am.

DIRECTIONS: Travel 85N and exit at Old Peachtree Road (Exit 109).  Turn left off ramp onto Old Peachtree Road and cross back over I-85.  Turn right at light onto Satellite Boulevard (look for Sideline Grill Restaurant and Home Depot on right).  Go approximately 1 mile (past a construction area where new office buildings are going up)and turn left on Shawnee Ridge Ct.  WPI is not street side and it looks like you are turning in at the 1085 building. WPI is up the hill as you veer off to the right (1075, Suite 100).

Come in the set of doors to the right. There is a desk for the fitness center up front and they can help direct you back to my office. 

Heading From North Georgia:   Travel 85S and exit at Old Peachtree Road.  Turn right at bottom of ramp onto Old Peachtree Road.  Turn right at light onto Satellite Boulevard (look for Home Depot on right).  Go approximately 1 mile and turn left on Shawnee Ridge Ct.  WPI is down the hill on the right (1075, Suite 100)

Wrestlers:
The following are tips that will help wrestlers report to body fat testing properly hydrated.
 
Two days prior to test day:
  • Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, (water has no calories)
Athletes should be drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water during the day
  • Increase intake of foods high in fiber- this will help with the removal of excess waste from the body. ( salas, cereal with skim milk, vegetables, fruits, etc are examples of foods high in fiber
  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals
  • AVOID FOODS HIGH IN FAT ( fried foods, fatty meats, french fries, pizza, nuts, salad dressing, etc.)
  • AVOID SALTY foods (potato chips, pretzels, pizza, tuna, crackers, soft drinks, sports drinks)
  • Be sure that you eat and drink, do not dehtdrate!!!
 
 
One day before test:
  • Continue drinking fluids, you should be urinating on a frequent basis.
Urine should be clear if you are fully hydrated, drink 12-20 ounces of a sport drink along with water
  • Eat smaller, but more frequent meals. Continue eating fibrous food, to eliminate excessive waste from body
  • Fatty foods/ snacks will stay in your body- - STAY AWAY!
 
 
Day of Test:
  • Eat small portions, eat a very light lunch (if afternoon testing)
  • Eat lighter foods such as fruits, grains, etc
  • Continue to drink water
  • Do not drink salty drinks such as Soda, Gatorade, Powerade, etc. This will cause you to retain fluids
  • Urinate as frequently as possible throughout the day until two-hours prior to test time
  • Use the bathroom (defecate) before the test
  • Please be ready to urinate for hydration test
 

 

Those who are attending will need to be hydrated upon arrival. Please follow the tip hydration sheet. In addition, each wrestler must bring a profile form these can be picked up from Coach Cicora. Directions are listed above.
